An Old Favorite

After a wonderful day going to curio, junk and old bookshops with the lovely Svetlana..... and pretty much doing no house work either..... I thought i would share with you an old favorite altered book that I made some time ago.

I will have to say that as much as I love to paint, i still really love to make and alter books. Today we found some great old books for a future project. I am doing a few workshops later this year and early next year so I am starting to collect goodies together for the projects.

The book is basically an old hard bound book that the pages have been taken out of and replaced with beautiful italian watercolour paper. I have covered the entire book cover with a fine chiffon fabric. I have then distressed and glimmer misted the covers.

The beads, charms and found objects have been wired onto the spine of the book and I have used wire and eyelets to attach the found objects to the cover.

The inside pages are distressed with walnut ink and stamped.

The theme of my pages is simply wings and flight.

The small journal on the inside cover can be removed and opens to reveal stamped pages, this little notebook is about ATC size.

Thanks for dropping by......I hope you liked this project.

  3. Fabulous book, Mandy. We had a great time junking through the second hand shops yesterday. Despite heat, dehydration and dust reactions we found some beautiful treasures.
