Altered Card Holder

Hello it’s my turn today to share a project and I thought that

I would share the Card Holder that I made to store my Altered  tags in.

I used The MDF Card Holder for this project.

To start with,  I used PVA glue to stick the panels of the card holder together, and once totally dry
I collaged old book paper over the entire outside surfaces of the box.

I have then used rub-on’s from 49 and Market to add the images of birds, leaves and butterflies to
decorate the panels.

I painted the inside of the Card holder in charcoal chalk paint and when dry i added a broken and patchy layer of Turquoise Chalk paint on top.
After these layers were totally dry I added a thin coat of Paper Artsy crackle medium and let that dry.

I have then painted over the top of all these layers with a light coffee coloured acrylic paint, and once dry all these gorgeous and textured cracks appeared giving the box a really nice old feel.

I have added chippy pieces for extra texture that I have painted with acrylic paint and added a little crackle to and some textured crackle paste in white to random areas on the box.

To finish I have added building wax in gold th some areas and added box feet from the Tim Holtz
 idea-ology range.

I love how my altered tags from my last DT post look in the Card Holder
I might have to make a few more!

Mixed Media Tags

Hello

Well January has certainly blitzed by!

I am here to share my first project for February for The Dusty Attic.

I have made a set of three mixed media tags using the larger tags from the Tag Medley
Chipboard set.
To start with I have covered the chippy tags in scrapbooking paper as my base and then I added chippy shapes and crackle paste for extra texture.

Once dry and crackled I have added dye ink and mica sprays to unify the colour palette
And add colour to bring out the textures.

I have painted some chippy leaves and added these to my tag bases
and then I have then  fussy cut leaves and flowers
along with a few laser cut out butterflies from 49 & Market,

Marine Mechanical Fish

Hello There

It is my turn to share an arty creation  for Dusty Attic
and my second for this month.

I love shadow boxes projects and gave this one a vintage steampunk ocean theme Using the Marine Mechanical Chippy!

I have used a wooden painting panel to collage on, but instead of working on the
flat front surface I have turned it around and I have used the back,
this gave me a nice sized shadow box and the wooden panel is nice and firm to work on unlike a stretched canvas.

To start,
I have covered the base with Stamperia scrapbooking paper cutting strips to cover all sides
of the frame as well as the base,
I have used Mixed media glue to stick everything down and also applied two coats of the glue on top to seal the surface before adding crackle medium and colour.

Once dry I have added Clear crackle paste with a palette knife and left it overnight to dry naturally and then coloured using Vintage Antiquing paste also from Stamperia
as this really helped to age the colours in the paper background
as well as emphasise the crackle finish.

I have used acrylic paints on the mechanical fish chipboard pieces and the leaf branch. In used various different brands of paints including Sennelier, Dina Wakley and Paper Artsy.

I used PVA glue to glue the fish and coral to the panel, building under the fish up with chippy scraps so that they are nice and stable.
I have added leafing flakes to the fish and Leafy frond  and Glossy accent to the eyes to finish off.

Supplies Used:
DA3365 Marine Mechanical Fish Large
DA3356 Marine Mechanical Angler Fish Large
DA058 Leafy Stem
DA1907 Coral #2

Stamperia Clear Crackle paste
Stamperia Mechanical Seaworld Paper

Altered Mannequin for Dusty Attic

Hello 2023

I hope that we all have a fantastic year ahead

filled with the things that give us joy and happiness.

I am super excited to be creating again and back to doing mixed media again!

What is even more exciting is to be a part of the Dusty Attic 2023 creative team!

I am looking forward to a creative year ahead filled with so many ideas and projects.

Today I would like to share with you an altered mannequin, This mini dress-form was used  to display
jewellery and is a great size for an altered project.

I had this old display mannequin that I have wanted to give a mixed media makeover
To for ages, I decided that an industrial look would give a great contrast to the form.

I have started by covering the entire surface with a layer of gesso and  pieces of textured tissue paper, the crackle stencil detail in gold were also done using a stencil, tissue paper and gold crackle paste. I have used the stencil to add gold crackle paste onto the loose tissue paper sheets  so that I
can collage this onto the mannequin,
as there were no flat surfaces making stencilling really difficult on the curves on dressmakers form.

After collaging the tissue papers onto the form I have then added layers of pre painted cogs around the form until I was happy with the effect.

I have then given them a patina and distressed look by adding various colours of gold and a vintage light blue to give them some texture and a worn look,
as well as helping to show up all the layers of texture.
Final touches are done with gold and turquoise patina waxes and some extra gold paint and some red
acrylic for the Industrial Heart for an added colour pop.

The skirt has been made with fabric strips that are stained with a aqua colour spray in dark brown
and stitched in small bunches around the base of the dressmakers form.
I liked how this added a softer contrast to the cogs and gave an illusion of a skirt around the base.

To finish I have added wings cast from a Prima Imaginarium mould using stamperia extra light soft clay.

I have added some random flowers in gold, red and a soft vintage blue to finish.

Supplies Used:

Dusty Attic Chipboard
Mini Cogs #2 DA1932L
Mini Cogs #3 DA3364U
Cogs and Gears DA1977

The Dancer card

Hello

I am back to share my last card for October for Paper Rose Studio.

I wanted to make a special card as this project is also my last project for Paper Rose

As I am leaving the design team.

I wanted to say thank you to all The crew at Paper Rose and to my fellow design team members,

It has been a fantastic four years!

I have stamped my image onto pastel  paper, I like the Canson Mi-Teintes.
It has a good tooth on the paper for heavy pencil blending.
I have also stamped on a separate piece my flowers
that I have fussy cut out once coloured

In wanted a dark background and decided to create a spotlight effect by coloring using a lighter colour
Around the dancer and moving out to darker shades toward the edges of the card base.

It takes a lot of layers to get this effect and the pastel paper holds up well without the layers
of pencil getting to waxy.

I have used a sentiment from the Uplifting Type pack and added some distress oxide ink in
Antique Linen so that it wasn’t so stark white against my background.

The flowers are also coloured in using pencils and fussy cut out,
I have added dots of white paint pen to the centers for contrast.

Supplies used:
27829 Dancer Clear Stamp
18183 Lovely Florals Blossoms Clear Stamp
19432 Uplifting Type Sentiment Pack

Distress Oxide ink- Antique Linen
Bruttfuner pastel pencils
Prismacolor Pencils
Posca white paint pen

Thanks for stopping by,
I will still be around social media and I hope to be spending
More time doing mixed media projects and drawing.

Bye for now

Big Blooms In Soft Watercolour

Hello

Today I would like to share with you my latest project for Paper Rose Studio.

It’s another floral  card in soft pastel watercolour.

I made this card for a wedding as I really love this

Big Bloom Stamp.

My card base is watercolour paper
I have stamped in versamark ink and heat embossed in white,
As the watercolour paper has a reasonable grain to it making stamping a little difficult,
I used a stamping platform so that I could stamp multiple times.
This ensures good coverage and no gaps in my embossing!

Once stamped and embossed I have coloured using Prima watercolour
in the pastel colour set.

I have added the Large Love Layered word and I have foiled both layers in gold and silver.

To complete the card I added gold splatters in ink and some gold gems.
I also used sentiments from the All Occasions Sentiment pack.

Supplies Used:

20707 Big Bloom Stamp
18042 Love Large Layered Word Die
22339 All Occasions Sentiment Paper Pack
20165 So Extra White 1.0 Sentiment Pack

Other:

Sarah’s Bouquet in Prismacolour Pencils

Hello There

I can’t believe that we are now into October already

Time seems to fly by these days!

I have my first project of the month for Paper Rose Studio to share.

I really enjoy colouring florals and decided to use pencils for the details in this beautiful bouquet.

I have used MiTientes pastel paper as my card base as I really like the tooth on
This paper for coloured pencil work.
I have stamped the bouquet stamp out in Versafine  black ink.

Once I had coloured all the leaves and flowers,I used two shades of light blues to blend out the background.

I then added splatters of acrylic ink in gold and black.

As the pencil blending took some time I decided to keep the rest of my
Card  simple, leaving the floral bouquet the main focal point.

To complete the card I have die cut the word wishes out of plain black card
And added sentiments from the All Occasions sentiment pack.

Supplies used:

25234 - Sarah’s Bouquet Clear Stamp
26110 Tall Script words Wishes Blessings
All Occasions Sentiment Sheets

Prismacolor Pencils
Acrylic ink Black
Windsor and Newton Metallic Gold Ink

Thank you for stopping by to see my latest card
I will be back with another card on the 14th

Until Next time
